Where to begin? How does one choose? With all the amazing wonders of the world, it made it difficult to narrow it down to only a few destinations. I love to travel and have such a desire to pursue my wanderlust. After careful consideration, I have compiled my top 4 travel bucket list destinations. Please leave a comment and let me know what’s on the top of your travel bucket list or if you’ve been to any on mine!
Giraffe Manor – Nairobi, Kenya

Giraffe Manor is on 12 acres of private land within the 140 acres of indigenous forest. This historic manor plays residence to a herd of Rothschild’s giraffes. These giraffes are known to poke their necks through the windows in hopes for a delicious treat. How incredible is that?! Who better to have a breakfast date with than a giraffe?! Amazing!

Northern Lights – Aurora Borealis

Disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by solar wind produce Auroras. I have always been amazed by this occurrence. The northern lights are such an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon. My only hope is to catch aurora borealis while I can. There is no guarantee you will catch a glimpse of this as it is often plays hard to get. An optimal place to catch a viewing of these colorful dancing lights is the Northwest Territories of Canada in the autumn and winter months. Iceland, Finland and Norway are also ideal spots to catch an Aurora light dance.

Petra, Jordan

The lost city. After the eighth century, Petra was abandoned as a city and became shelter to nomadic shepherds for centuries. In the early 2000s, Petra was named one of the “Seven New Wonders of the World”. The Rose City it is often called due to the architecture carved into the pink sandstone cliffs.

Swiss Chocolate Train – Switzerland

Whether you prefer savory or sweet, this train ride is a must do. This first class experience departs from Montreux and stops at Maison Di Gruyere Swiss cheese factory and Maison Cailler Swiss chocolate factory. Passengers will enjoy tours and tastings along the way. Sit back, relax and soak in the breathtaking scenery while enjoying cafe and pain au chocolat. Sounds like perfection to me!

A very varied selection and I haven’t been to any of them. Would we really like a slobbery giraffe toungue appearing over our breakfast? But I would like to stay there. Scandinavia appeals even if I didn’t see the lights, but I think I will choose the chocolate train as I love chocolate and cheese and have always wanted to go to Switzerland.

Petra is definitely a good destination, Liz. I hope you make it there one day. I’m impressed you have only 4 places on your bucket list. I have so many places on mine, I won’t live long enough to see them all. Iceland is amazing, but I never saw the Aurora Borealis. We were there in summer, not the best time to see it. 🙂

If you are thinking of seeing the Aurora Borealis on a budget, consider Murmansk and Teriberka in Russia as good options. You can find not only the Auroras, but also Fjords, Frozen Beaches, Polar Nights and a vast white mesmerising landscape of Arctic Tundra. And try staying at one place for a minimum of 8-10 days to rule out most of the odds against the Auroras.
A nice travelogue by the way..!! Thank you for sharing.. 🙂
And thank you immensely for visiting my blog and your likes.. Would be very happy to get your feedback as well.. 🙂

Funny enough, the chocolate train is on my list as well, though my goal for Switzerland is to see the Chaplin museum.
